Going on an adventure with my best friend seemed amazing, but it was even better than I could have imagined. Hawaii is truly the most beautiful place I have ever visited. The water was crystal clear, and the weather was perfect. We did all the activities that you would hope to do in Hawaii. My favorite activities were surfing, snorkeling, and the sunset sailboat cruise.
When I found out that there was a no phone policy, I was worried I would not have any pictures to help me remember the memories. So, I brought both a digital camera and a disposable camera. Our trip leaders, Alex and Marissa also had cameras, and were so great about taking pictures whenever we wanted. I got just as many pictures as I hoped, and I was glad I did not have my phone! Having my phone would have taken away so many moments during the trip. Now, I realize I would not want to have it with me if I had the choice.
Marissa and Alex were incredible trip leaders. They were organized, super fun to do activities with, and were always there to offer us support. During small group, they shared their experiences on how they grew in their faith and gave us opportunities to share as well. It really helped bring our group together on a deeper level.
There was a very important lesson that I learned on this trip, that really impacted me. I learned to see God as a creator. In Hawaii, you can easily see his beautiful creations all around you. But, on this trip, I learned that God also created me and sees me as the masterpiece.
I felt closer to God and more connected to my surroundings having the knowledge that I am God’s creation, and he does not make mistakes!
There was one special moment that happened on my adventure that I will always remember. One night, I was walking back to my tentalo and I stopped to look up at the stars. Hawaii has the clearest skies and the brightest stars! I stopped walking to take in the beautiful stars and for the opportunity to be in Hawaii. I thanked God for letting me have that moment. Then, I saw a shooting star! In that moment I felt this unreal connection to God. I felt so grateful to be growing in my faith, and to experience new adventures with friends I had grown so close to in such a short amount of time.
In the future, I hope to return to Hawaii exploring another island with Created for Adventure!!
