Good Food Means Happy Teenagers

Whether you’re considering registering  or are already preparing for an Adventure Trip, you may have questions  regarding food on our trips.  Before traveling, many of our students and parents have lots of questions. Here are some answers to common questions we are asked regarding food on our Teen Adventure Trips.

What is the food like on a Created for Adventure Trip?

It is GOOD! By operating out of basecamps, we offer quality, fresh ingredients with a wide variety of options. See our FAQ for more information.

What if I have dietary needs?

We can serve those who may have special dietary needs such as gluten-free and vegetarians on all our Adventure Trips. Once you are registered, you’ll be asked to complete a Health History form where you can list any dietary needs.

About backcountry cooking skills:

On our Teen Expeditions, students will learn useful backcountry cooking skills. They will learn recipes to cook in the outdoors that are simple and easy to prepare. They may also learn how to cook over a camp stove or fire at their campsite. In addition, students will learn how to properly clean and safely stow away any extra food from wildlife.

What will I drink?

Students are required to bring at least two water bottles to stay hydrated throughout their adventure. We recommend bringing a Nalgene or Hydro Flask water bottle. We ask that students do not bring plastic, disposable bottles. There will be opportunities for campers to add Gatorade mix to their water bottles or enjoy other beverages throughout the trip. We will also offer hot drinks to enjoy such as hot chocolate or coffee.

What if I have a sweet tooth?

Don’t worry, students will be sure to enjoy delicious treats on our adventures. There’s nothing like climbing a mountain or surfing the North Shore and rewarding yourself with shaved ice or something sweet to end the day!

What if I don’t like the food?

We realize there may be some picky eaters but ask that campers at least try the food (they may be surprised how good it tastes)! We try and offer a variety of food and options that most teenagers will enjoy.

Will there be snacks?

Yes! We realize some teenagers stay hungry throughout the day. We will offer a variety of snacks such as granola bars, fruit, trail mix and more that students will enjoy when they work up an appetite!

Will I have an opportunity to eat “local” food?

Yes! Campers will have the opportunity to eat “out” a couple of times together at local restaurants. Please bring extra money to cover at least two meals out as a group.

We have received incredible feedback from campers and parents about the food we serve on Created for Adventure trips! Check out what two of our parents said from last summer:

"Our daughter loved the food and still talks about it!" -Christine, parent from North Haven, CT

“Our daughter said she had the best meals on her trip-she ate gluten-free the entire time and said she never felt better! Thanks so much for accommodating her dietary needs.” -Jennifer, parent from Jupiter, FL

We look forward to another fantastic summer full of adventure (with delicious food)! Check out our variety of overnight Teen Adventure Trips that we are offering for middle and high school students this summer.
